Modern American Show Sports can be traced back to 7 January 1938, in Akron, Ohio, when the first ever Professional Mud Wrestling match took place. These sports are more for Show or Spectacle than Competitive Sports, with the contestants not seriously trying to harm, injure or defeat each other [References: 1]. As such they can be seen as a ‘Red Herring’ in terms of Sports Development and Sports History. For more serious developments in sports history in North America in the 1930s, Professional Soccer and Gridiron Football Leagues developed in Mexico and Reduced Numbers Gridiron Football started in High Schools in Nebraska, USA, which these days is more widely known by its’ Arena Football offshoot, which is most popular in Mexico. X-League Football

The Lingerie Bowl was first played in 2004 as a rival to the Super Bowl half-time show which was seen by many fans as two long and boring. It was aired on a rival TV network and featured two teams of scantily-clad Women. The Bowl eventually became a fully-fledged league in 2009. The owner of the League admitted it was aimed at beer-drinking college students and following claims of sexism the Lingerie was replaced by bicycle shorts and crop-tops, and the League renamed the Legends Football League. It is 7v7 American Football with very little in terms of protective clothing. In 2020 the League was renamed the X-League
